Ravens quarterback coach Hue Jackson has replaced Steve Bisciotti and Joe Flacco for Al Davis and JaMarcus Russell. Kind of a juxtaposition when you really look at it. Jackson has left Baltimore to become the Raiders newest offensive coordinator under domestic violence superstar Tom Cable.
Jackson’s two years in Baltimore the Ravens were 23-14 with two playoff berths, while the Raiders are 20-60 since 2004.
“After much consideration I have decided to accept a position as offensive Coordinator with the Oakland Raiders,” Jackson said in a statement. “I will miss the fans here and I thank them for all the encouragement and support they have shown me while I called Baltimore my home. I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude to Steve Bisciotti, Ozzie Newsome, Dick Cass and especially Coach John Harbaugh who brought me to Baltimore. Baltimore will always hold a special place in my heart and I’m especially thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to work with a world class organization, a top notch coaching staff and some of the best talent in the league.” (per Baltimore Sun)
The worst part of the news is that not only are the Ravens losing the biggest factor in Joe Flacco’s success, but ESPN’s wunderkind Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens are looking to possibly ex-Redskins coach Jim Zorn to fill the position. However, the last time the Ravens hired a failed head coach as an assistant it was Cam Cameron and that has worked quite well.

I think Zorn would be good in a focused (non play calling) role with Flacco. I also laugh that Jackson essentially turned down the Bears for the Raiders.
