In some very sad news for the Raven’s family, former linebacker Tony Fein passed away from unknown causes. After being found unconscious in his Washington home, he later died at a local hospital. Fein was recently in the news for a run in with city police in a downtown restaurant during training camp.
Fein has a story that most probably don’t know aside from the preseason incident. He was a standout walk on at Scottsdale Community College who later went on to play with Michael Oher at Mississippi.
Oher told The Sun “He’s a great guy who has been in my thoughts,” Oher said. “He’s a guy who is always happy for you. He always had a smile on his face and kept guys laughing.
“I went to battle with this guy. We shared victories together, so it was heartbreaking [to hear that he died].”
Fein was also an Iraq vet who spent nearly four years fighting for our country. No matter what kind of opinion you formed of him from the preseason media coverage, a man lost his life and our thoughts should be with his family. I think Coach Harbaugh summed it up the best.
“It’s just a shock and we’re saddened, ” Harbaugh said. “He’s a tremendous young man. He’s a Raven to us and always will be.”
