Fan Edits (especially Star Wars)

I got turned onto the site http://www.fanedit.org/ after watching "The People vs George Lucas". Below is a link to the re-edited prequel trilogy. I look forward to watching and I hop this guy has managed to unfuckulate those movies. Check out the trailer below.

I got around to watching the Fall of the Jedi cut of Episode 1 last night. The cuts this guy made were pretty seemless and I think he removed close to 40 minutes of silliness (mostly Jar-Jar, Gungans, and goofy shit with Anakin). Frankly, I don't think he could have done a much better job.

Still, you can't polish a turd. Even with this edit, Episode 1 is pretty pointless and the worst of the Star Wars movies.

For all of the cuts I'm thankful this guy made, he still left in the exchange between Qui-Gon and Shmi Skywalker about how Anakin didn't have a father.

I'm somewhat looking forward to seeing how this guy does with the other two prequels, but honestly, I think all 3 of them were unnecessary. That said, the Clone Wars animated series is pretty damn good.

If you guys haven't watched "The People vs George Lucas" on Netflix, I highly recommend it.

Just watched the Fall of the Jedi Episode 2 cut. Wow. This guy really did a fantastic job cutting out so much of the silliness and extraneous plot elements. The pacing moves along quite well and at just over an hour and a half long, the length feels perfect. There are a number of significant action scenes cut out, but frankly, I think the movie is better for it.

Now I'm really excited to see what he did with Episode 3 and how he pulls all of this together.

Last night, Domo and I watched the Episoded 3 cut. Again, almost an hour of footage was removed. I have mixed feelings about it. The intent of the guy who edited it was to make it so that someone could watch all 6 movies in order and not have the "I am your father" thing be spoiled in Episode 5. That is achieved in this cut. But, like I said, an awful lot was cut out that were still kind of fun (though ultimately unnecessary) scenes.

I stand by my position that the prequels were unnecessary, but damn, this guy really turned Episode 2 into a great movie.

I'd like him to take Return of the Jedi and trim most of the ewok shit out of that.
