SWTOR goes the long expected free to play, with a level cap of 15:

Oh hell not this again. Just make sure you download their special version of the game rather than try to play with a retail version.

They are trying all kinds of shit to get/retain members. Biowars is going to have to pull a major fucking rabbit out of their hat soon, because I predict there will be a mass exodus as soon as Guild Wars 2 comes out at the end of August.

My PC finally went tits-up over the weekend so I ended up throwing a new processor and RAM in there and can probably run this now. I downloaded it and it starts up, dude can run around smoothly when there's no fighting, etc, so I guess we'll see.

Getting a better GPU from a buddy to see if I can make it work because I'm pretty sure it will shit the first time I am attacked by something.

Right now it's an old GeForce 6600, 256 MB. New one will be a few years old, but new to me, GeForce 8800GTS, 512 MB.

It's a step up for sure. I'm figuring you can probably run SWTOR on medium settings.

Tried last night running some old stuff through Steam and it was awful. Not sure if it's Steam's servers getting hammered during the sale, or maybe I haven't properly activated the cores in the new processor or if my GPU is just that crappy. Asus has a desktop tool that says it opens up the cores so you don't have to do it in BIOS but I am always skeptical of things like that.

How many cores does msconfig show when you go to the boot tab and click on advanced? Check the setting, then check how many it shows in the drop down. If it's not showing the amount of cores that it should, then the bios needs to be adjusted.

I'll have to double check tonight when I get home. It's showing activity on all the cores on Task Manager's CPU Usage.

This is right up there with the ever-amusing "rabb rebuys games" joke.

What will be more amusing is, revisiting this with GW2

Can we start a thread for that game too?

A thread or a forum?

If it's a forum, can we make it a sub-forum to the garage?
