The easy review is to say "it's a lot like Diablo 2, but with great looking graphics and some of the tedious stuff removed". I think the best review I ever read compared it to playing the most amazing slot machine in the world. You just keep pulling the handle because the payouts are amazing. Rolling into a mob of 30+ baddies and just watching the blood and body parts fly is fantastic, but the addicting part is the yard-sale of gear that's left after the carnage.

What I really like about the mechanic of D3 vs D2 is the each player sees a differnt drop of loot on their respective screen. This means: 1) you're not racing to see who can click on a piece of gear first, and 2) you find yourself doing a lot of trading to help out your teammates.

Played on my daughter's account last night and wow, I may be picking this up at some point...was fun as hell co-op.

Domo has introduced me to a new addiction within D3 -- the auction house. I had been selling various loot to vendors, and Domo showed me how to get 10x the amount of gold on the auction house. He's like a savant on the thing -- he was looking through my gear and he's rattling off buyout prices I should list things for. Sure as shit, I was rolling in the gold in no time.

The "real cash" auction house opens this week. I'll be curious how that turns out and whether it saps a lot of goods away from the in-game gold auction house.

I also love that this game has achievements, some of which unlock customizeable game content (like your character banner, which is similar to the banner thingy you can make in Halo).

Didn't make it on this weekend like planned but did get Mumble setup. When it does happen I am ready.

Yet another cool thing about D3 is that the difficulty and the loot drops scale up the more players you have in a party. The difficulty doesn't scale up 1:1 (meaning it would be 3x as hard with 3 players), but it does scale up that it stays challenging. The increased difficulty is offset by having a party with complimentary skills and dedicated roles on the team.

Probably the most fun character. Domo is running Witch Doctor as one of his alts.

I'm rolling as a Monk and have a Wizard as an alt. Domo's primary is a Demon Hunter.
