The Last of Us

Read the new Game Informer yesterday about this, will be a PS3 exclusive by Naughty Dog (Uncharted devs). Survival horror type thing, but looks pretty freaking awesome. Appears to be coming at the end of the year, and is looking like a must-have for me right now.

Absolutely, Naughty Dog being on this alone makes me want it for what they do with Uncharted. People can joke all they want, but the PS3 exclusives make that console worth it to me.

Yeah, the exclusives are what make the PS3 worth every penny (at least now that Sony got real and dropped the price). Multi Platform games may be hit and miss on the PS3 (especially if they were written for the 360 and ported over), and the online isn't as robust, but the exclusives like Uncharted, Killzone, Heavy Rain, and Infamous are must haves if you like games that tell a good story.

I will be totally honest here though, last year there was a 2 month stretch where I let my Live sub lapse for a few reasons, and just stuck to PS3 and I thought it was just fine. It's lacking in the features (party chat native to the console, etc.) but otherwise I had no issue.

The lack of party chat is a big issue to me, because it really helps against having to hear the timmies and assorted douchebags. Playing Killzone MP was painful, especially in the beta before you could squad up, because of this. Trying to hear your clan mates over some annoying asshole was killing me, I guess XBL has me spoiled in that regard.

Also, some devs just don't have a good grasp of PSN. I remember BFBC2 could be a pain in the ass at times when playing MP. PS3 Exclusives like MAG and the Killzone series weren't so bad, but cross platform games could be a mess on PSN.

Agree totally, Killzone (which I miss playing) was a great example, Brains and I would actually be in an XBL party to chat while playing...glad they fixed it.

The only reason I don't think the PS3 is worth it for me is the fact that I have so many unfinished games on Xbox. If I wasn't already well established with the 360 it would be hard not to go PS3 instead.

Totally agree MTK, in reality I am in the same situation and I got my PS3 for Blu Ray initially. It's a great machine, they just don't always make the most out of it...it's an awesome "entertainment" console though.

I got my ps3 just so I could play heavy rain. But adding in the excellent blu-ray player, resistance, little big planet, killzone, uncharted, demon's souls, and infamous, it's totally worth it. And i'll be getting TLOU when it comes out.

This is exactly what happened when I bought one. I ended up selling mine due to it sitting and collecting dust.
