my only issue with this, because I feel bad for the chick, is her playing the "I cannot feed my son" shit

come the fuck on, if it's that tight of a budget then you shouldn't be playing Xbox online

In her defense on the account money thing--she DID have 366 dollars stolen from her in one month, that's a big chunk of a monthly budget. Although I would think if you had a shortage you'd make it up from somewhere else than your disabled child's food funds.

That is my point really, if I knew I was going to get jammed up...the first thing I would let go unpaid would be my cable bill or something like that if I had to choose...not "well little buddy, hope you aren't hungry". She threw that in there for dramatic effect. Sorry lady, you can live without cable and internet for a month or two (and btw they would probably work with you on your bill if you called) so you can go without gaming for a little bit.

That's the part I hate about it, I am not trying to be unsympathetic. She could cut costs from something else, nobody would choose to not feed their kids as a first resolution.

Well is it a CC? If so she won't be billed until the end of the month. And by then she won't end up footing the bill.

If it was money already in her account, sure that would absolutely suck to lose that money until the bank reimburses her, but (I assume) she has some sort of income to put money in the bank in the first place.

I agree with rabb, it was added dramatic effect

Yeah, I don't like the dramatic effect, because it cheapens a damn good complaint against MS and their awful customer service. That said, I hope that MS gets nailed to the wall like Sony did now, because this falls on stupid CSRs - both those who are getting duped into giving passwords over the phone, and those who don't care to do a damn thing to fix it.

There was an article on Joystiq about hacked accounts. A common thread is that people found their accounts were being used to play and buy shit for FIFA. If you read through all of the user comments, it appears that there is a Chinese site that is acquiring people's accounts then selling them.

There's some speculation that the hacking of these accounts are tied to the EA Season Pass for their various games.

The awesome thing with mine was, I saw the first email and immediately called in...waited on hold for a half hour which was long enough for the fuckers to make 3 more transactions.

The part that annoyed me about mine was, they didn't make my missing month "whole" really...I should have gotten a month credit if you ask me.

Her's wasn't a credit card, it was paypal, so it was coming straight out of her bank account. Yes it was stupid to link her bank account to her Live account but then you figure you have a reasonable expectation of security. Or at least most people do, until they get burned.

Agree, regardless of how she got there, they dropped the ball on numerous occasions, at least to hear her side of it.

Right now, if I tack on a payment method to get something, I remove it right after my transaction is complete. I think they reset all of that to allow you to remove payment methods at will, didn't they? Or is that still tied to auto renewal?
