@Clem - You're correct; BioWare intentionally designed the crew skill/crafting system such that players generally can't be self-sufficient.

I've been using a similar chart to the one MtK posted. I like the one I use because it's spread across three columns so it's a little easier to read. I started trying to craft Artifice but quickly realized the same thing Clem did. I've been focusing on Slicing... I think it's around 380 now.

To anyone who's concerned about their choices when leveling:
You can't change your advanced class choice; however, I'm pretty sure you can pay credits to re-spec your skill trees (press 'k' to bring up skill trees). This would allow certain classes to switch from a pure damage dealer (DPS) to a healer.
