The Walking Dead books

The place to talk about books, duh

The Walking Dead books

Postby Falling Man » October 22nd, 2011, 5:51 pm

(I know there was a discussion somewhere in the forums about this but) I was in a Books A Million today and ran across the Walking Dead graphic novels. I was looking for the Compendium One book ("1-48") but they were sold out. I almost purchased Book 1 until I realized that only covered the first two volumes (or 12 issues).

Who here has the The Walking Dead: Compendium One? That is paperback only and probably the best way to start right?

If I wanted to continue reading in sequence after that I would start with The Walking Dead Book 5 (which is "49-60") or is there a Compendium Two released or set for release that I haven't seen? The most recent released hardcovers I have seen are Book 7 which is volume 13-14 ("73-84") and "Rise Of The Governor".

Kinda confusing at first glance without doing some research.

You are correct sir, best way to start ...compendium than book 5, 6 and then vol 13 (too far gone) and vol 14 (no way out)... Book 7 wasn't out when I bought them. I don't have Rise of the Governor but it is on my wish list.

Thanks Lamber. I'm going to have to order it.
Maybe there will be a Compendium 2 shortly with the popularity the series is getting lately.

Saved it on my Amazon wish list. This would be a great Christmas gift for somebody.

Good idea, yes it would. I would recommend any fan (like any of us here aren't?) of the series to pick up the Compendium or at the very least ask for it for Christmas. I zipped through a few chapters last night up to the point of matching where the tv series roughly is.

I've been getting these from the library, I'm up to book 5 in the hardcovers. Awesome series and the best part is not paying for it.

I need to catch up on these. I have only read the Compendium and really want to see where they take the story next.

if anyone is watching the tv series and not reading the books, stop reading this post NOW!

i've gotten the volumes consisting of, i think, 6 comics apiece. if you order them from amazon, you can get like 3 for $25 whereas it would be like $30 for TWO if you bought them from a shop.

i love how the comics are so different from the tv version. come on, dale's bangin andrea and shane gets it in the first few chapters? awesome!

plus, the comic is pretty brutal. i wonder if they're going to follow some of the same incidents and storylines on the show.
