A team

Eh?

A team

Postby ptrain86 » October 20th, 2011, 1:15 pm

I've been trying to get into hockey the last few years, but never really took interest in a team because of the whole geography thing. I'm leaning towards Minnesota, which hurts, as a team I'll root for. Pretty sad when a video game pushes you into following a sport, but I found that it has. Anyone have any other particular reason to push me to another team? I did always root for the Wings, but that's just because I didn't know much, they were good, and they were always on TV. Kind of how the Irish and Cowboys stayed in the spotlight for the casual fan. However, I now know better.

Hockey is a great sport to watch and I wouldn't want to push you towards the Red Wings. Problem with rooting for the Wild though is you likely will barely ever see them televised.

I would think Chicago is an obvious regional choice for you, and not a bad team the past few years. Depends on what sort of affiliation you're looking to cultivate. Blue Jackets are not that far away for you, if you're into "teams-without-hope".

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't become a big Red Wings fan. I would have to have to remove you from your NHL12 squad, although you do look sexy in a Canes sweater though.

I would suggest watching a few games more than normal and keep learning to enjoy the sport. A favorite will come in time. By playoff time you'll know who you hate!
A hockey game is fucking awesome live. Is there a minor affiliate or college team near you?

Don't listen to Lotus.. he cheers for the teams with no hopes.. CBJ have a great team.. they are rebuilding still.. But this year they made some awesome trades.. I love CBJ.. They are fun to watch..

Chicago is good too, but they hit their prime with that Stanley Cup.. They are holding on to hopes and dreams and are going to get worse this year.. *my prediction..

I really hate Danny Heatley so he would be my recommendation for not cheering for the wild.. He's a selfish player that has some skill, but doesn't fit well on any team.. He's got head problems.. he can't figure out what he's doing half the time..

The Red Wings are like the Yankees.. I just fucking hate them.. But I absolutely love Pavel Datsyuk .. He is so fun to watch..

I used to love the Capitals.. Ovechkin is just so fun to watch.. but Bruce Boudreau has turned them into this defensive team that is now winning more games.. but i much more boring..

First and foremost you have to pick a team with players you like..

Me and my homeboy Dion Phaneuf are tight.. So I have to cheer for the leafs.

Choose the Caps and you'll ALWAYS see them on TV.

Originally I thought this was a thread about B A Baracus playing ice hockey.

I agree with the guys, watch a few Saturday games and see who you like. Do you have versus? They televise games all week.

I can not physically root for a Chicago team. That city represents much of what we hate in WI. Minnesota and Michigan we can relate to. I can't go Canada. Heatley sounds a little crazy, which I like. However, I would like to see a team a decent amount. Can't go NY, but could go Caps. The big markets make me cry...

It's really great being a Caps fan. They are off to the best start in team history and I'm not a bit excited because they'll get swept by Montreal in the first round.
