Looking at the plans, I only think the mobile option works on the $9.99 plan. The $4.99 is basically unlimited and no ads on a PC.

It's still in trial, might be worthwhile to send them a note pointing out that they ought to consider a mobile trial as well. It does seem pretty shortsighted of them not to offer one.

The other thing I have read and is something I believe Rhapsody offers (though at $15/month) is the ability to stream to multiple devices. Some feedback I have seen are people frustrated that someone can't stream to their phone in the car while someone is streaming at home. Only offline mode can go to 3 devices at once.

So I went into their help area and made a post about a premium trial. Somebody helped me out and gave me a link but it is not available in the US yet.

My nephew just convinced me to try this out. It's definitely cool but I don't see the need to drop any coin on it when I have Pandora and Last FM for free. Being able to pick specific songs is nice but not really something I need.

Actually if it's just limited by volume I may be fine with the freebie because I wouldn't listen that often, probably just over lunch breaks here at work.

I think Spotify and Pandora both serve a good purpose, but I'm the sort who likes to listen to stuff I know I like without necessarily trusting their computer to guess on my behalf.

That being said, I get into ruts where I don't listen to anything new for months at a time and appreciate being turned onto something new. You can use those 3rd party apps with Spotify to get the same thing, then just drag the link into your playlist and it's saved.

The thing I love about Spotify is that I can give albums a trial run before buying.

If the service is dependable then I might even question whether or not you really need to buy. Assuming you buy one album a month then you have the whole thing there for you all the time, plus you can save 3000 songs in offline mode.

I don't know if I'm there yet. I like to own my stuff and be able to do with it what I want. But they make it tempting.

Lotus, how do you listen offline? I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

What would you prefer me to call them?

You have to be subscribed to their premium plan, $10/month, gives unlimited access as well as mobile and offline capability.

And don't knock 8-tracks. I used to look AWESOME with my portable 8-track player rocking KISS' Dynasty.

Smart move by Spotify.

I prefer you call them Phogasms but you can use CD if you'd like.

I would argue that "album" can describe any collection of media, regardless of format. Technically vinyl albums were LPs. Cassettes and CDs still contain albums of music and so can folders on your media player.
