Rush Time Machine Tour

Postby miketheknife » June 9th, 2011, 4:40 pm

7 days and counting! I am going with a buddy from work and he has already drawn up our plan of attack. Ride the light rail from work to downtown, hit Hard Rock Cafe for some warmup inebriation, and then cross the street to US Airways arena. We are sitting in the 8th row so this is going to kick ass. I only wish they had those roasted chickens again, and they were going to throw them out to the crowd.

This must be the never-ending tour. I took DomoClem to see them last summer. As always, they put on a great show.

Yeah it's been going for a year but this is their first stop in Phoenix. Hopefully after they finish the tour they can get that new damn album out so we have more than just the 2 songs.

The two new songs are pretty good. Are they still playing the entire Moving Pictures album in the set?

According to Musictap.net, Concord Records will release a RUSH DVD and Blu-ray titled "Time Machine" on September 27. The disc will most likely contain footage of RUSH's April 15 concert at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio filmed by the award-winning documentary makers Banger Productions from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey", "Global Metal" and the RUSH documentary called "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage".
RUSH bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee recently spoke to The Plain Dealer about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band's upcoming 20th studio album, "Clockwork Angels", for which a release date has not yet been set.
"We've got about seven songs written," Lee said. He added, "When you hear the first two songs ['BU2B' and 'Caravan'], which we're playing live now, they definitely have a heavier sound. It's the heavier side of RUSH in the early going. But when I think of all the songs that we've written already, there's quite a lot of diversity there. I think — I hope — RUSH fans will like it. We're certainly going to work hard to make it a great record, as we always try."

Sweet! The setlist I saw didn't have 2112 in it, I hope they play it.

I read the reason they taped the Cleveland show is because that's the first city that played them on the radio.

We lead the world in being just south of Lake Erie.

Yea, Its "Working Man". It was on the "Beyond The Lighted Stage" DVD. The DJ in Cleveland said they needed a long song for a bathroom break & the blue-collar context of the song was embraced by the hard working city.

Today is the day! The co-worker and I plan to hit the light rail right after work and take it downtown. We will park our asses at the Hard Rock Cafe until showtime. Our goal is to stay fairly conscious in order to be able to fully enjoy the show, however we are going to have to consume some booze in order to keep our minds limber.

I have a big flask full of Maker's Mark.
