This is the place for some NCAA chatter!

He should have been shown the door the moment it was proven he knew about the illegal doings and opted to hide them. I'm writing up an article on this shit now.

I'm really hoping it's Meyer at this point. Would be nice to for Big Ten to get a coach from SEC for a change.

Tressel was an amazingly talented coach and sounds like a genuinely decent guy. Just should have kept his nose clean and we'd all be happy.

If there is more coming out about Ohio State under Tressel, and the NCAA finds lack of institutional control (as they did with USC when Carroll hit the dusty trail), then you can forget about a top tier coach like Urban Meyer or Bob Stoops (brought up because of the inevitable rumor ESPN will put out since he's from Youngstown) - at least for the next few years. Best case for OSU when it comes to them is to have a guy who guides the team through this for a couple years or so, while keeping them competitive enough for Meyer or Stoops to jump in after all this shit has blown over.

Oh, and...

There won't be a hire this year anyway. We'll just have to see what comes of all of it and see how many coaches start to reach out to them, because you know there will be a ton of people who'd love that job.

George Dohrmann's article hit last night, OSU claims the info SI turned over had no bearing on the resignation.

Yeah. Except that after it dropped, the university suddenly wasn't out there getting his back. It was "call his lawyer if you want a comment".

That article really knocks him down many pegs. The guy is a great coach, no doubt about that, just too bad he turns out to be such a lying heap of shit.

Lying Dickbag wrote:“I sincerely apologize for what we’ve been through. I apologize for the fact I wasn’t able to find the ones to partner with to handle our difficult and complex situation.’’

Sooooo....where exactly are you apologizing for lying and implying that you were of a higher moral fiber than other people when in fact you were screwing over everybody who wasn't on your roster?

Great quote from the local paper today:

Here in hybrid-Ohio, ambivalence rules. Our sports loyalties are as divided as Mason and Dixon. The rest of the state caught pneumonia Monday, when Ohio State announced Tressel’s resignation. Around here, we sneezed.

The message wasn’t lost on us, though. We’ve seen an iconic college coach be forced to resign. The difference was, Bob Huggins didn’t sell us on his righteousness. What you saw was what you got.

Huggins was good that way. Far better than the man in Columbus, who today looks as sincere as the sleeves on his vest.
