So one week after the release and Gamestop already has it down to $39.99 and K-Mart for $34.99. Any guesses as to how quickly it hits $24.99? I'm saying by Memorial Day. And I'm sure it's a helluva great game, Lotus, but to me there's a sense of pride in snagging relatively new games for under $30.

Totally agree, Clem. Any other title and I'd have waited, but this is one that I was willing to pay up to have on day one. I'm a confessed Valve fanboy.

Amazon is price matching and has Portal 2 for $34.99 as well. They also moved Mortal Kombat (not my thing) for $40.

If this trend keeps up it is going to be wise for all of us to wait a few weeks after each release on new games.

That's my new strategy. Unless a game is a AAA title with hot MP, I'll be able to wait. The only "day 1" titles I see myself getting this year are: Gears 3, Saints 3, and Battlefield 3. Dead Island is also a strong candidate for a "day 1" purchase, but I need more details on it.

That looks pretty much like my day 1 list also, along with LA Noire.

So, did anybody end up grabbing this with the sales this weekend? I wrapped up the single player cheevos today but need to rock the MP with at least 3 people.

Did it hit the magic $20 price point? Then no, didn't buy it. I was tempted, but then I realized how much fun I was having with Saints Row 2 and how I honestly don't need another game right now.

As interested as I am in LA Noire, I'm still not done with Red Dead Redemption or Tales from Liberty City. Not to mention the non-RockStar open world games I'm still working through: Saints Row 2, Just Cause 2 and Prototype. By the time I'm ready for LA Noire, it will be $25 or less and I'm sure it will be just as good as if I got it on the release date.

I got a Best Buy gift card from work and bought Portal 2. I love it. Stephen Merchant's voice work is hilarious and I'm really digging the puzzles.

Haven't finished SP yet but still love the game and always love Stephen Merchant. Would love to play co-op with you some time so I can continue to ignore Lotus.

I'd be on board with that (co-op and/or ignoring Lotus).
