Again, agreed 100% with the morality part. But the award can't take into account the guy's past...that's not cool.

Hey, if baseball keeps Pete Rose out of the Hall for gambling, then you can tell some piece of crap that he can go piss up a rope.

p.s. I love horses.

It should be something that is out of your control that makes it a legit comeback. You should receive an award because you can still play well despite the fact you are stupid and break the law. I guess now I have to root for Plaxico to get it. FFS, its stupid. Hopefully, Rae Carruth gets a chance as well.

You got me all wrong pepperpants! I'm not saying he shouldn't have won it because he went to jail. I'm saying he shouldn't have won it because it was his second year back in the league.

IMO, comeback player of the year should be won by someone who missed all or part of a season and is able to play at a high level the following season. Not someone who missed a couple years, comes back as a backup/3rd stringer/wildcat/whatever, and then in their second season back, win the award

Well, you're right as well, but I like my reasoning too. Maybe Roethlisberger should have won it after being out 4 games.

I just don't agree I guess, being out of football is being out of football.

I still say it's a morality issue with you guys more than it is an actual deserving thing.

It is for me, but I see YEMs point that he was actually in football the year before and healthy. It doesn't make sense that you are the comeback player of the year, the year after you came back. Now I will exit stage left because I really don't care and I'm satisfied that we agree to disagree.

Maybe for ptrain, but it has nothing to morality or why he was out of football. If he would have played well and won it last year, fine....

Maybe it's because I always assumed the comeback player of the year was someone who missed the previous year. It's the whole second year back in the league that is throwing
me for a loop

YEM if it makes you feel any better, I have my NFC Championship hat and SB hat here at school. You can tell me which one to wear and I'll listen.

You make it sound like he played a ton the first year he was "back" though, that is where we aren't agreeing. He was out of football for 2 years and then in his first year with Philly, he had a grand total of 13 passes and 24 runs, a gimmick player at best and someone that really the team wanted to help get back into the league IMO. I don't buy for a second that they thought he would beat out Kolb long-term, I think they were doing Vick and his agent a solid, would use him in situations and he would move on eventually.

So yes I guess by that standard, it wasn't his first year back this year. but it was basically his first full season back...and HE WASN'T EVEN THE #1 GUY COMING INTO THE SEASON! I don't see how that's not a comeback.

I just wonder if Welker had missed a whole year, then part of the next one, then had a dominating season in the next one if you would be singing the same tune. I think I know the answer.
