The Exercise Thread

Postby rabb » January 13th, 2011, 2:02 pm

I know a lot of you have the whole resolution thing going on, and are starting various regimens or programs. Figured it would be a good thing to have a thread to talk about it. Feel free to brag about it, it's a big deal to meet your goals!

I am beginning P90x again on Monday, God help me.

I've been doing the 4 Hour Body diet the last couple of weeks. I'm going to withhold my verdict until I have done it for four weeks. For exercise, I'm doing mostly cardio and core work 3-5 times per week. I tweaked my back a couple of weeks ago and that's still bothering me. Once that gets better, I'll start working with kettlebells again.

Back in October, I was 220 lbs. This morning I'm 202. I'm shooting for sub-180 (aka fat Pricness Leia weight).

Haven't been exercising except hockey but have changed my diet. Replaced red meat(up to four times a week), pizza and taco bell w/ whole grains, fish and chicken. I think my biggest obstacle is my beer consumption.

Just started Insanity on Monday and it hurts to sit still right now. I hate the first week of getting back into it.

Trying to get my body fat % back in the single digits and somewhere around 180, 185. I am at 200 right now. Did it last year and went from 216 to 185 but did not keep it up.

It has been more fun this time around, my daughter has wanted to "work-out" with me which involves excirsing for a minute or two and going to change outfits or getting another straw so she can drink more water. She had 10 at one time last night becasue "she was really thirsty from working out." That and she would get a wash cloth every break and wipe my head. The boy tried it to for a bit but got mad becasue they wouldn't do the "choo-choo dance" again. I don't remember the name of the excercise but when he does it looks like he could be a Quad City DJ.

I joined a gym about a month before Xmas and feel great. I've been going 2-3 times a week. I don't have any weight goals but basically just improve my fitness and strengthen my back which is a huge issue. I run at least a mile to start then always play racquetball to loosen up. Core exercises mostly right now and toss in some basketball if they aren't running full court. I really feel good and think I'll keep it up long term.

I have thought about P90x, but will stick to doing the free weight workouts for now. What hurts me is eating....well not really eating in a general sense, but my lack of portion control. Since the New Year, I only eat one helping at dinner, instead of the typical 2-3 big ones, eat 4 other small snacks throughout the day to curb my appetite, and drink lots of water. I'm a couple of weeks in and can already see a difference. The gym work out are variations of bench, squats, dead lifts, military presses, clean & jerk (yeah, I said jerk :D ) with other back, shoulder, tri, & bi stuff mixed in. Oh yeah, I do mix some ab exercises in there too, and the cardio.
problem solved, problem staying solved...Rangers lead the way!

started P90x yesterday, felt ok but man what a drop off from the last time I did it...I am in really bad shape again

I lost 2 lbs, but I attribute that to eating well and drinking a shit load of water with no soda...that is my biggest obstacle and vice

already a touch sore but with plyo tonight, tomorrow is going to suck

My back is just about better. I figure if I can make it to the gym a few times this week, I'll crack 200 lbs for the first time in over 4 years.

Day 3 of no caffeine. Did chest for the first time last night and feel it today. Been playing a lot of racquetball and running. Have to just enough to get to the point where my back isn't shot for a week.
