Ilya Kovalchuk gets sent to the New Jersey Devils for winger Niclas Berfors (restricted free agent in July), defenseman Johnny Oduya (2 year deal left at $3.5million), prospect Patrice Cormier, and a first round pick.

Kovy is flat-out incredible but as an unrestricted free agent in July the Devils just paid an huge price for probably a rental player.

The Devils may surprise me and manage to sign Kovy to a long-term (doubtful) but it would surprise me even more if they managed a deep playoff run.
