Wrek's Journal

Postby Wrekcut » May 10th, 2011, 10:13 pm

Starting this over from STL.

Ran a little over 6 miles today. Kept my pace of 7 minutes a mile which makes things look a little bit better for the marathon time I shooting for.

Yeah no joke that's a great pace man. What is goal pace for a marathon since it's something I'll never ever ever need to use.

In my mind I look at this and just chalk it up that Wreck is doing my running for me too. Seriously, awesome distance man!

To qualify for the Boston Marathon you need your pace to be faster than 7 minutes and 15 seconds.

Right now I can hold my pace at around that for the first 14-15 miles, after that I start having energy issues. Still trying to work that out.

8 miles today. Wasn't bad, but treadmill runs bore me to tears.

It's been a busy weekend. I was supposed to run 20 miles yesterday, But was gone all day so I had to push my run to today.

Just as busy today so I got up waaaayyyyy too early and went running. I ended up running 5 miles in 34:38.

Motivation as usual is my biggest issue lately. I need to find some new courses to run so I stay interested. Not happy about not doing a complete run this morning, but not enough to make me go do the rest.

4 miles - 26 min 33 sec. Pace of 6min 37 sec a mile. My pace is improving finally. Finally over that wall I have been fighting for what seems like months.

6 miles this morning in 40 min 29 sec. A pace of 6 min 43 sec a mile.

Last mile and a half started to be a struggle at the pace I was doing. Started to feel like I was running out of energy. I am not used to that feeling on the runs that are under 90 minutes. I will have to start taking my energy gels and drinks with me on all runs if I continue with this pace.

That's a fast pace man....good job. do the energy gels and drinks make a big difference when you feel like you're running out of energy?

I am not completely satisfied with the energy gels such as GOO. They don't give me enough energy, they just seem to slow down the loss. I am going to be ordering a couple new drink mixes to try that are supposedly very good to help maintain energy levels. I will let you know how they are after I try them out.

The big problem is burning more calories than I have in the tank. So starting off with plenty in the tank and then trying to maintain a tank level with drink mixes and goo is what I am trying to do.
