I just read this from the library and couldn't put it down. Yes it's reminiscent of the movie Mastermind. An alien takes over the earth and then sort of becomes its protector. Then he gets bored because no one can challenge him until, one day......

Very amusing read. I burned through it quickly because it was so entertaining.
