Must-Read

I have to make a separate post about this one because I feel it's basically tailor-made for this group. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

If anyone read the Otherland series, it's basically that if a)Tad Williams didn't hate his readers or b) Michael Crichton had written it trying to sell a movie script.

In a nutshell--a guy creates an MMO that goes worldwide. He makes a 'treasure hunt' in the game that goes live when he dies. He grew up in the 80's so he is obsessed with it and his MMO and the treasure hunt are all about 80's pop culture references.

It's got games, music, movies, and TV references up the wazoo. The story is pretty simple but there are some great scenes in there. I honestly think I would recommend this book to anyone at this website as long as you are looking for a relatively brief but engrossing and easy-to-read story. For 2 days over the weekend this book was pretty much the only thing I did besides eat.

Read that a few months ago, really liked it. Did remind me of Otherland but more 80's focused obviously. I liked Otherland much more, but I dont mind reading 10,000 pages to get to the end of a story!

I've been reading this book throughout the week and it is pretty awesome. As MTK mentioned I would recommend it to anyone of our group here for the fact of gaming/movie/music references alone.
Fuck-it list: Owls, Ohio, Facebook, Red Wings.

Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but film rights are expected to sell quickly, as "Armada" features a high-concept hook that offers the ultimate wish fulfillment to every video game fan on the planet.

And that is quite a lofty promise

Peter Molyneux makes that promise a couple times per week.

Well it's either 1) Lara Croft for my every possible enjoyment or 2) A non-raging, unmuted lobby, and lag free night of public matches in Call of Duty

Given that, the odds probably favor #1

Must-Read

Postby Wrekcut » May 11th, 2013, 9:41 pm

Great recommendation. I can't remember a book that I had this much fun reading.

Hell, I really enjoy reading, but I can't ever thinking "man that was fun". I can now, that was a fun read.
