There are similarities but this old guy is a war veteran who smokes, not a hippie with tevas.

The first 2 books are definitely better. Similar writing style, but you can tell it was a different author. That said, it was pretty good. Tons of action and tons of deaths....almost everyone in fact. I gave it 4 stars on amazon

I was not aware of this book until right now, definitely putting it in the queue. Crikey that was an awesome summer.

Finished up The Hunger Games series on yesterdays flight home. Overall I really enjoyed the read. I downloaded "Ex-Heroes" on my kindle, as I am in the mood for a zombie book.

I am on the second book and I am enjoying it.

I have been reading minimally lately, reading a book on grammar (yes, it's as fun as you think it would be) because I am focusing more on writing lately than reading.

Hopefully one day will provide a zombie book for you when you're in that mood.

Read two Phillip Dick short stories this week--'The Skull' was a quick 12 Monkeys-style sci-fi story (it was free on Kindle last time I checked) where a prisoner is sent back in time to kill a man and 'We Can Remember It For You Wholesale' which is what the Total Recall movie was based on.
Obviously the movie(s) add tons of things to the story but I plan on seeing the new one this weekend and wanted to check out the original story.

Just finished Divine Misfortune

http://www.amazon.com/Divine-Misfortune-ebook/dp/B0035IICYU

It was really amusing. If you liked American Gods, this is like that but much lighter. It's basically the world, if ALL gods existed and wrestled over gaining mortal favor. Quetzalcoatl (aka Quick) is a pretty cool dude.

I started this book last night. I first saw this guy on that show Stars earn Stripes and decided to check it out. He is far more down to earth than many of the other SEAL authors that come off brash and self centered. I am digging it so far.

Just read some info about that guy....

- 160 confirmed kills (out of 255 claimed kills)

-For his deadly track record as a marksman during his deployment to Ramadi, the insurgents named him Al-Shaitan Ramad (English - The Devil of Rahmadi) and put an $80,000 bounty on his head

-In 2008 outside Sadr City, he made his longest successful shot, after he spotted an insurgent with a rocket launcher near a U.S. Army convoy at a range of 2,100 yards (1.2 mi). He fired a shot from his .338 Lapua Magnum rifle, killing the insurgent

- During four tours of duty in Iraq, Kyle was shot twice and caught up in six separate IED explosions

- He now runs Craft International, which provides military, law enforcement, and civilian training, as well as private security and protection

- Kyle has also paired with FITCO Cares Foundation, a non-profit organization which created the Heroes Project to provide free in-home fitness equipment, individualized programs, personal training and life-coaching to in-need veterans with disabilities, Gold Star families or those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder

Fuckin' A! That's an American hero right there. Definitely want to check out that book now

Recently finished 'Apocalypse Z: The Beginning Of The End' by Manel Loureiro. It's based on the blog and journal entries of a Spanish lawyer as the zombie apocalypse begins. No real over-the-top hero stuff, just a man (and his cat) learning how to survive when everything goes down.

Highly recommend it and can't wait for two more books in the works. It's a fairly cheap priced ebook and Kindle Fire users can borrow it for free.
