yes, and yes

I didnt see the race, but Im sure they talked about this guy and that guy teaming up during the race and how everyone would be trying to stay out of the "big one". Guys take turns drafting off each other during the race, even guys from different teams. Track position is really important during the long runs, its a bitch to catch up.

I wanted to kill one of the radio guys this morning on the local sports station I listen to, he is clearly not a NASCAR guy but he was making a pitch that the young guy winning is bad for NASCAR because it devalues the big race.

He is such an idiot. To me, it makes it MORE interesting for this to happen. He tried to back his opinion by comparing it to a double A pitcher coming into his second start in the MLB and winning in the World Series. Ummm...if that happened, that kid would be a media darling...he tried to sell it like baseball fans would be upset.

Baumgarner did just that and youre right, he was a media darling. I like seeing some new blood in the sport too, in any sports for that matter.

I think it's good to see these new guys win. I remember waaayyy back in the day when it was a very rare occurrence that a rookie or someone with less than 5 yrs exp would win a race. Now it happens all the time which, IMHO, has made the sport more mainstream.

I liked how the package is set up different to avoid pack racing (somewhat) the teaming up was a cool new aspect.

Yeah, that was much different than seeing long trains of cars that we're used to seeing on those big tracks. Talladega should be interesting.
