I see the Pack coming in at 12-4 this season, with 3 of the losses coming in the first half. The schedule affords us the opportunity to go into the playoffs with some momentum.

I just don't know enough about the Bronco's this year yet to say, but at least 9 wins should be a possibility and the expectation.

This season could be a rough one. There are a lot of young guys playing, and I'm still not convinced the secondary issues are close to being worked out for the Raiders - barring a major trade during the draft or around it. I see a couple of steps back this year thanks to Al's shitty contracts over the last decade.

I don't know if it's fair to blame Al on this season honestly, you guys let a lot of talent walk.

But the reason we had to let them walk was because Al had these ridiculous contracts in place, and the majority of them refused to renegotiate. Bush is the only player of consequence let go that wasn't under a contract, and he was let go because the Raiders couldn't get under the cap soon enough to make any kind of offer.

I don't buy that sorry, losing Bush, WImbley, and Boss are all 3 fairly big losses also. Isn't Routt gone as well? They can work contracts and cap and yes I realize there is more to it than that. Stupid shit like Palmer is worse than anything, and the coaching carousel. Don't get me wrong though, I hope you have a miserable season with dozens of season-ending injuries. A stadium explosion while playing the Chiefs would be great also.

Just stay in the basement where you belong.

Ravens will have a tough time but luckily the season opens and closes with stretches at home where they have been nearly unbeatable. The Pitt-at SD-Pitt scheduling is just stupid. Bmore/Cincy to end the season could be very interesting.

Bush was a major loss. I didn't like that one.
Wimbley refused to renegotiate. Sorry, had to be done, because that contract was fucking bullshit to begin with.
Boss probably should have gotten another year.
Routt fucking sucks...KC can have him. The only person who is more likely to grab a WR as much as him is Kim Kardashian.
The Palmer trade was debilitating. I still think Palmer will do better this year than last, but how do you live up to a trade that dealt that much?

Reggie has a tough task ahead of him - undo the past decade while building the Raiders in the mold of the Packers - building your team through smart drafting. I'm not talking superstar #1 picks, I'm talking smart drafts through all rounds. Then, once you have young players that pan out, pay them their worth, instead of overpaying anything that ranks above mediocre because that's the only way you can get them to come over thanks the the shitty culture built by the constant coaching changes/selling out your coaches.

I agree with just about everything you just said, Reggie needs to change the culture there and build through the draft. Same thing happening here, too many years of band-aid and free agency whiffs combined with terrible drafts were crushing and this regime gets it finally. It's how good teams build.

Routt, I am just not sold on letting him walk...not with your secondary.

Routt had 17 penalties last season - including 8 for holding and 7 for PI. That leaves 2 penalties that aren't desperation penalties because you fucked up your assignment. He was the worst in the league in penalties last year. He also gave up 9 TD - again worst in the NFL. Opposing passers were 51% when throwing to his area. Also, his opposing WR averaged 11 yards per reception.

And he was making 10 million after salary and bonuses. You can't keep a guy with those numbers for that much money.

The only guy I would have released before him was Giordano. Not sure why he's still in Oakland, other than he's a lot cheaper.

The money issue I agree with, but how were his stats with Nnamdi opposite, just as bad?

No, but he was going against the #2 or #3 receiver. He still had 11 penalties in 2010. His tackles and assists were pretty much similar. I'm having a hell of a time finding opposing WR numbers for 2010, but I'd guess they were better, since he was facing lesser receivers.

That is sort of my point, and Dre Bly was a good example here. He is not a bad corner, but when he had to go against #1 guys he got torched. Just saying, money aside which i get is the big issue, he's at minimum a good #2 or nickle guy. Especially when that's a position of major need.
