Comeback Player of The Year

Ok, I take issue with this. Welker or EJ Henderson should have won this award.

What exactly did Vick "come back" from? Not starting? FFS, the guy was back in the league LAST year

Aside from him not being the starter, stepping in and being basically #2 in MVP conversations?

Sorry, but without him, Philly would have sucked this year...I can see it.

I'm siding with EJ Henderson. His leg was shattered and he came back in top form. Vick was able to do whatever he wanted to stay in shape. (Go Terps)

I just don't see how you can win comeback player of the year when this is your second year back in the league. He didn't really "comeback" from anything.

Welker had a torn MLC and rotator cuff surgery. EJ shattered his femur and both were able to come back and play at a high level the following year. That's a comeback.

Vick went to jail for his own stupidity, came back in the league as a backup, and in his second year back, became a starter and had a good year. Good enough for MVP considerations and I could even see Offensive Player of the Year. But Comeback Player of the Year? Sorry, I don't get it

what he went to jail for isn't up for consideration here

he was out of football for however long, stepped in when he had to and flat out dominated...and he was a bench player up until this year...how is that not a comeback?

Henderson I could see, but I really don't care about any of them to be honest. They always turn into a popularity contest.

It's funny you say "Good enough for MVP considerations and I could even see Offensive Player of the Year. But Comeback Player of the Year? "

sooo, he could win 2 of the major ones by your thought and it would be justified, but not be a comeback player?

I guess I don't follow that logic. No matter why you came back, it's still a comeback. A comeback isn't more impressive to me due to injury over some other reason.

I'm not saying injuries are more impressive. When I think of a comeback I think of a player missing all or part of a season for whatever reason and coming back and performing at a high level the FOLLOWING season.

I guess my issue with it all is that Vick was in the league last year. He could have played. Obviously McRibb and his jail time were factors, but the point being he could have played.

And I don't know, this is just one of those things where I really don't care, but for whatever reason, it still bugs me

I see the argument for all three guys. But yea, the sporting world loves a redemption story, so Vick fit the bill.

You added Henderson but Welker is involved. Could your Pats love be the reason it bugs you?

I absolutely see your point, but that's exactly what Vick did

his first year back he was nothing more than a gimmick, and I think everyone thought that he was just in Philly to get his foot back in the door to the league...McNabb was still there and at the time, Kolb was not just the clear #2 guy, but the guy everyone said would easily supplant McNabb

even after McNabb was dealt, Kolb was basically the starter all training camp, getting all of the 1st team reps and when he was replaced, Vick took the opportunity and literally/figuratively ran with it

I don't see how that's not an amazing comeback, and believe me...I am sick of the Vick story, and I don't like the guy as a person but he pretty much single-handedly took that team on his back and won...sometimes making the other team look like a joke

I think that's why he was an MVP candidate, and even though I think Brady was the right choice, it's hard to argue against the idea that if you took the Eagles all year without Vick, they would have been a worse team by a long shot

It has nothing to do with Welker or my Pats lovin' I don't care Welker didn't win.

It has to do with my dislike for Vick :ovie:

And rabb, I guess I see what you are saying. But it'll never be a comeback to me  :D

I'm with YEM... even more so. So because of my own choices I go to prison and then get the Comeback Player of the Year? I don't care if you come back and dominate. It should be something that is out of your control that makes it a legit comeback. You should receive an award because you can still play well despite the fact you are stupid and break the law. I guess now I have to root for Plaxico to get it. FFS, its stupid. Hopefully, Rae Carruth gets a chance as well.

Eh, I see what you guys are saying but morality aside...if he is out of football for a few years and comes back to dominate...that's just as impressive to me.

Who knows, or cares.

I really don't except for the fact you are rewarding someone who made extremely poor choices over others that had bad things happen to them. I just think it shows bad judgment.
