Good Pitching Can Be Compelling

Most people will tell you that offense sells but last night's Phillies/Giants game was a good example of how good a game of dominant pitching can be.

Matt Cain - 9 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 4K, 0 R and 64 of 91 pitches for strikes.

Cliff Lee - 10 IP, 7H, 0 BB, 7K, 0 R and 81 of 102 pitches for strikes.

I can't tell you how many AL games go for well over 3 hours and this game with pitchers that move quickly was an 11 inning game only took 2 hours and 27 minutes.

Good to see Cain living up to his new deal. Hell of a matchup.

Game before Cain threw a 9 inning 1 hit shut out so he is on a hell of a roll.

He might end up being better than Lincecum in the long run... maybe.

Nice 10 innings by Lee who is now on the 15 day DL.
