My search is over. I have looked for a black IPA for some time now and came across this brew while on a recent business trip.
I let this chill for a little bit before serving it up.
The aroma had a nice roasted malt overtone with some piney notes. It poured a dark brown, almost black, and had an off white thin head with moderate to little lacing.
So far so good…and the taste wasn’t disappointing either, starting with roasted malts and finishing with an almost piney/grapefruit hop flavor. The hop bite isn’t as strong as in most IPAs, but does let you know that it’s there.
Overall a very drinkable IPA, 6.0% ABV, and has set a high bar for the ones that follow. It has a medium body that isn’t too filling so that you can enjoy more of them.
