Denver signs Berger, waives Kern

Super Bowl XLIII

After a pretty lackluster start to the season for Brett Kern, the Broncos decided to waive him in lieu of veteran punter Mitch Berger.  Berger most recently played for the Pittsburgh Steelers where he helped guide them to a Super Bowl by limiting opponent’s field position.

Berger is a Colorado guy, and a University of Colorado Alum.  This is a welcome addition in my opinion, if I had to pick an area that Denver needed to improve it would have been the kicking (both punt and kicks) game.  I liked Kern but the 2nd year punter just was not getting the job done.
