This photo sums up my hatred for this current Chicago Bears team.  Yesterday’s game was probably the most pathetic and gutless performance I have ever witnessed in my years of watching the Bears play football. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach watching Cedric Benson smile, play after play, after play, after play.  We all know why he was smiling, that pathetic thing the Bears call a defense couldn’t stop him.  He was looking for vindication and the Bears handed it to him on a silver platter.  I can’t explain how angry I am with this because that is one guy who shouldn’t ever feel vindicated because HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT!  From 2 minutes after being selected by the Bears in the draft he started balling like a little girl on national tv.  He was upset the Bears selected him because they already had a running back and he knew they weren’t going to pay him what he was worth (in his mind).  Why should he have to go out and earn a spot or the money he wanted?  Then he held out for all of training camp, came in, and acted like a prima donna, which caused his teammates not to like him very much.  Then he got hurt.  Fast forward to the next year.  He complained that the defense was cheap shotting him in practice; he got hurt again, complained about the team, about the media, about the fans, and then called on Ricky Williams to mentor him through his problems.  Good call there, I’m not even going to state the obvious, but went on a boat ride with Ricky and some “ladies’ and got busted by the cops.  Then a few months later, he got busted again, so the Bears showed him the door.  Sorry buddy, you can’t be vindicated from being a jackass.  It doesn’t work that way.

So onto the photo.  Like I said earlier, it made me sick to my stomach every time I saw Benson with that huge smile on his face.  I wanted to drive to Cincy and rip his face off.  Me, a guy watching the game on my couch, 400 miles away from the action.  For some reason that is beyond my comprehension, I saw no Bears player with the same anger that I had. The only life I saw in the defense was when Kevin Payne gave Ochocinco’s helmet a little girl slap after a play to draw a 15 yard personal foul penalty.  Way to go Kevin, that’ll teach him.  But that was about it.  Sure, I saw some frustration on some of the players faces but nobody did anything about it!  Cincy kept Benson in at the end of the game so he could reach 200 yards.  200 yards! Really? If this team had any heart, he wouldn’t have gotten 20 yards and if they couldn’t have stopped him, he would have at least known he had played football that day.

I read today that Jay Cutler said that everybody in the locker room was embarrassed.  Sorry Jay, I don’t believe it.  Take a look at the above picture of your starting full-back after the game.  That’s a pretty big smile from a guy that is embarrassed.  If my team got destroyed like that, I’d be angry and sure wouldn’t be smiling at guy you just handed “vindication” to.  You’re lucky Mr. McKie, if it were up to me you would have been cut at 8am this morning. Show a little heart.  Maybe if you actually did your job and blocked somebody Jay would have had an extra millisecond to throw the ball before a Bengal defender was in his face.  As bad as the defense was, you and the offensive line were even more pathetic.  The Bears would have a lot more cap room if they dumped everybody on that line, put out pylons and asked the defense to count to 5-Mississippi before they rushed the QB. The offensive line had about the same effect.

The Anger Sharks are swimming and I want heads to roll.  I don’t want a good 85% of the players on the Bears anymore.  That’s not going to happen anytime soon so we’ll start with Lovie Smith, “stuff” (wanted to try and keep this G-Rated) rolls downhill.  A heartless, unemotional coach breeds a heartless, unemotional team. Disgusting!

    Unfortunately I have to say that I agree. That game was devastating. I don’t think I’ve been more upset watching a football game ever in my life. This is not Chicago ball and I don’t know what it will take for the Bears to get it together. I’m just hoping this was a wake up call. We’ll just have to wait and see but I can’t bare to watch another performance like the one last night.
    Utterly disappointed.

    Sounds like sour grapes to me. Just sayin’…

    And since when is “I wanted to drive to Cincy and rip his face off.” G-rated???

    @lotus – I said try and keep it G-rated. ;)

    I don’t think that game was representative of Bears football. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad the Bengals beat ‘em up, but good teams have bad games and it doesn’t mean they won’t bounce back.

    I think Cutler showed he can get the ball where he wants early in the season, and he has targets, not to mention guys like Hester. I think Sunday exposed some issues in the D, but I’m willing to bet that those guys aren’t going to show up next time and allow their dignity to take a hit like that.

    Lovie is the problem. He babbles about the game, the event, like it’s some sort of organism, not about the players actually creating their own destiny.

    Ok well first off sundays games was a dispicable performance and they should be embarrassed how badly they played. But on the point of Cedric Benson, while the bears Defense was no existent no body has been able to stop benson this year, he leads the league in rushing even above adrian peterson and he did going in to that game aswell. When he was in chicago he had the potential and they didnt let him go for lack of talent, they let him go for his off the field issues

    It didn’t seem like the players cared too much, but I was sitting in that stadium and plenty embarrassed to be wearing my Bears jersey. That is the single worst performance I’ve seen since the early 80’s. Aside from Briggs and Johnny Knox, I didn’t see anyone in a white jersey showing any heart or intensity. Ben, you are 100% correct.

    Lovie is not the problem. We need to start gettin younger athletes and stop relying on older veterans to help us win… yes the older athletes have helped the bears alot. We need to rebuild with the defense and start getting athletes and keep them healthy. If not the Bears will become detroit lions or have years like the kansas city chiefs.

    This is the greatest critique of all time. Funk that.

    Wow, Ben, and I thought I was mad!! I agree, there seems to be no accountablility held, and hasn’t been since the 80’s. When the real M.O.M lost, the other team LOOKED like they’d been in a bar fight, and when home to some Motrin, and an ice bath, not a shower, a nightclub, and a shopping spree to celebrate. We’ve gotta change the schemes…they’re not working anymore! Look at Orton, Benson, and every other Bear that have moved on to SUCCESS!All except (Train WRex)GROSSman, who we kept 5 years too long, and would have problems with Mt. Caramel after a couple of games.
