It really isn’t hard for me to tell if a product we test is going to be popular. Want to know how I know? Generally it means I can’t get my hands on it because everyone else wants to use it. This is exactly what happened when I unleashed The Gamer on my tailgate.
I received the unit at my office and to make everyone jealous, there is a nice big color picture on the side of the box showing the dispenser in all its glory. Walking from the first to the third floor was like a new father showing off his newborn. “Where can I get that?” “Wow I didn’t know they made those?” I was a proud papa.
The Gamer is a replica helmet that has a solid base and a 128oz containment unit on top. I have other dispensers but none have this capacity or the quality that is instantly noticeable. It stands nearly 26” tall and I found it to be very stable, even on a surface that was constantly getting bumped. A nice feature that I wouldn’t have thought of was a spill catching disk that is held magnetically inside the helmet to catch anything that may drip after the tap is closed. The football shaped tap handle adds the perfect finishing touch.
At all of our tailgates we have a keg for passers-by to enjoy. It comes with a nice little single tap jockey box to keep everyone from having to pump the keg like it was a college frat party. We are professionals! I decided to get an honest reaction, I would take The Gamer out without filling it with anything. I’d normally add a premade punch or cider depending on the temperature but I wanted to see what people would do with it. I am a Navy season ticket holder and luckily the Notre Dame helmet is exactly the same so that’s the unit I went with. Let’s just say it was a hit. With a perfectly good tap sitting there, people were filling The Gamer with beer and using that instead of the tap. At one point we even had a waterfall scenario with a person filling the dispenser from the tap while another filled his cup from dispenser
In full disclosure, it didn’t take long for a proud Navy mom to cover the ND logo with a Navy sticker. People apparently haven’t forgotten the thrashing ND put on Navy in Ireland earlier this year.

While The Gamer wasn’t intended to be mobile, it spent a good part of the day being carried around the parking lot filling random cups. Not sure how that started but if I ever start a beer on the go business, guess I’ve found my supplier.
I don’t know if you are like me but I like to have the wow factor at my parties and tailgates. I want things that no one else has (yes I’m that guy). I assure you that this is a product that will turn heads and make your friends jealous. I had people taking pictures with it like George Clooney showed up to hang out with us. Even when I tried to direct them in front of the Tailgate365 banner, they made sure to have me take it from an angle where The Gamer was in the shot. If that doesn’t prove the impact of this little guy, I don’t know what will.
