Hoosier Daddy?

Posted By LT. Under Featured, Grub and Booze, Product Reviews, Tailgating

I love BBQ sauce.  Yeah I really went on a limb there huh?  There really is a point to this babble trust me.  We recently hosted a tailgate for the Navy/Indiana football game and in the spirit of bringing in the food culture of the opponent, the perfect opportunity presented itself…Hoosier Daddy BBQ Sauces.

Our main theme was “The Best of the Midwest” which meant beef, pork and corn (with some chicken tossed in for our poultry loving folks). From the reviews I read online, this sauce was the perfect accompaniment.  With such a wide variety of meat, we were able to use each of their flavors in a dish.  If not familiar, they have Sweet & Sassy, Smokehouse Hickory with Lime and Ghost Roast.

The hit of the day was hands down the Sweet & Sassy.  It wasn’t so sweet that it lost what it meant to be a good BBQ sauce, it had just enough of everything to be nicely blended.  People also seemed to like the Smokehouse with the Ghost Roast creating a stir for its own reasons.  It’s got some heat, I love heat so this was a good thing.  There was a lot of the “drop on the finger” tasting going on with a handful of folks diving right in.  There was even sightings of a sweet and heat mixture on the pulled pork.  For me the Ghost is a good sauce that’s going to give me the kick I need when I want it.

The best part of this experience for me was having all of the IU grads who stopped by see a little piece of home.  They came out in force and really appreciated that Hoosier Daddy decided to be a part of their day.  The Hoosiers lost a tough one to the Mids so what better way to comfort these poor souls than with some slow cooked meat and delicious sauce???

You can find their Hoosier Daddy sauces online here and their website here.
