Bacon Cheese Bread

Posted By LT. Under Appetizers & Dips, Featured, Grub and Booze, Pork, Recipes

Those are three beautiful words in the title aren’t they?  I’m always on the hunt for recipes that we can use for football days to snack on.  Anything that can be shared and has bacon seems to be an instant favorite which is why this caught my eye.  There are endless possibilities with a good load of sourdough which you will see in upcoming recipes but based on ingredients alone…this had to be first.

To start, take a really sharp bread knife and cut the bread in both directions.  The width of the cuts are up to you but I would suggest between an inch or two depending on the size of the loaf.  Do not cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf as you’ll need a base for all of the goodness.  Here is what you’ll need:

1 unsliced loaf of  sourdough bread
8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced or shredded
3 oz bag real bacon pieces
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tbsp Ranch dressing mix

First step is to spread the pieces of bread apart and add the cheese.  You want to make sure to get it all the way down to the bottom.  Next add your bacon in the same manner.  In a bowl mix the butter and ranch dressing mix.  It will look like a lot but trust me when I say you should use it all.  Pour the mixture all through the bread, try to get every little piece because this will add an amazing flavor and make it really moist.  Wrap the loaf in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  Take the loaf out, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.  This is the point you can also add a little cheese topper if you missed any spots.  You will now have pull apart bread that will be gone in a matter of minutes.
