It’s not often we give an app the Tailgate365 seal of approval but this is one of those cases. Made for serious connoisseurs, Untappd is the Foursquare of beer drinking. If you are looking for a place to log your 12 beers after softball or finally found the 5 star porter you’ve been craving-this is your app.
It’s a very simple concept-drink beer and rate it. OK well there is more to it than that but the community feel is built on users posting their latest conquests including a picture, description and location if you like. It really is a beer lover’s dream because you are getting real time ideas and opinions from people all over the globe who are drinking things you may have never even heard of or have been wanting to try.
As with other check-in apps, there are badges to entice you to use it more. I will admit I don’t normally chase badges but I’ve been hunting these like wild boar. You are rewarded for everything from expanding your variety to checking in to various locations.
There are some tweaks that I’d like to see made but as a new user I’m still working my way through things. I was encouraged to see a support forum for ideas and comments from users with fast responses from the creators.
If you aren’t into the whole check-in thing, there are options to keep your updates private and use it as your personal beer database. This is a great tool for those of us with horrible memories to look back on a certain beer and help us remember if it was a favorite or not.
I’d say anyone who enjoys beer should crack this one open and give it a shot.
