We’ve all been there. Grab can-insert key-pop top-chug beer and spill a third of it on your shirt. It’s a scene that has played out across tailgates and backyard barbecues since the beginning of time. I lost my shotgunning virginity in college, until you’ve had 12oz of freezing cold beer streaming down your throat you really haven’t lived.
The problem with shotgunning a beer is the mess. Unless you are a seasoned veteran, chances are you are going to be wearing a nice pilsner cologne and that’s not really that enticing to be honest. Enter the Flowzie.
I was able to get my hands on a few (purple) Flowzies and made my way to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore for some field testing. I will say, it took folks a few second to get their bearings with it, I was asked a few times how to position it. I also witnessed someone position it incorrectly which made for good times and a soaked Ravens jersey. Once people got the hang of it they were having a blast. The unit is simple, the can is inserted with a pointed “pin” at the bottom that is used to puncture the can. By placing it at the bottom, you can have the can open and ready as soon as you poke a hole. Then it’s bombs away.
It seems like every time we have a gathering, someone is pulling out their keys to shotgun a beer so these will definitely have a place in my tailgate kit. I would recommend that you buy at least two at a time so people can go head to head for bragging rights. Speaking of bragging rights, stay tuned in the coming weeks as we will be posting videos from the Tailgate365 Chug Challenge.
