NEW DVD RELEASES – TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 28
IRON MAN 2 – This incredible sequel to the much beloved orginal Iron Man met with mediocre reviews from audiences when it came out this past May. I found this terrific sequel to be an equally impressive film to the original, even though it is by far a very different film. This is more of a film about how Tony Stark became…Tony Stark and how he has to deal with the power he has and what this power is doing to him. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend adding this blu-ray to your collection. Here is my initial review of the film from this past May.
GET HIM TO THE GREEK – Another high quality, very entertaining summer film arrives on blu-ray today with Russell Brand and Jonah Hill’s comedy Get Him to the Greek. The film is sort of a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall simply because of the Brand character returning, but this film in tone is nothing like its predecessor. It is a far different movie but with the same quality results. Both are funny and both are must sees. This is a film I recommended watching with a group of people…a group of people who are in the mood to laugh. Here is my initial review of the film from this past June.
WEEKEND BOX OFFICE RESULTS
This weekend featured a battle between the sequel to a classic and a very cool looking animated film about owls. Michael Douglas’ return in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps opened #1 to the tune of $19 million. Zach Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians followed in second place. The Town, Ben Affleck’s heist film, managed to continue to do very good business in its second weekend, and has currently grossed close to $50 million on a $37 million budget. Emma Stone’s high school comedy Easy A is also showing strong legs by adding another $10 million to its total. The film has grossed $32.8 million on a modest $8 million budget. The weekend’s other new release, You Again, starring Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver, and Jamie Lee Curtis didn’t perform too well coming in 5th place with $8.3 million. Here are the top 10 estimates:
