In an update to a story posted earlier this week, it appears that Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island) is in talks to take over the role of Bruce Banner (Hulk) from Edward Norton. The studio confirmed that Norton is out, and Ruffalo may indeed land the role. Mark is a decent actor and would be a decent fit for The Avengers, which hits theaters May 4, 2012. Stay tuned for confirmation of this story.
Above is a recent set photo from the fifth installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, called Fast Five. Judging by the pic, everyone who has survived the previous installments is back for the fifth round. The only people missing here are Lucas Black (from Tokyo Drift – I don’t think he’s in the film) and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who is in the cast. The Justin Lin-directed film is scheduled for a June 10, 2011 release.
The trainwreck that became the life of Joaquin Phoenix will finally be in theaters this September 10th. The Wagner/Cuban Companies’ Magnolia Pictures announced today that it has acquired world rights to Oscar-nominee Casey Affleck’s directorial debut, I’m Still Here, “a striking portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of internationally acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix.” The film follows the Oscar-nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip hop musician. The studio describes the film as follows:
Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking, and always riveting, the film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads. Defying expectations, it deftly explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.
Iron Man 2 will hit shelves this September 28. It will be on blu-ray with tons of special features, and on regular dvd as well. The film grossed over $300 million here in the United States, and ranks as one of my top films of the year. This will be a must own blu-ray for any collection.
